In 2010, after nearly 20 years of illness and constant efforts at a diagnosis, Kevin was diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Disease (CVID). Having CVID means that your immune system has trouble fighting infection - so while you may look well, your body is always fighting - and being sick often and fighting nonstop is exhausting!
CVID can best be explained by the experts ~ ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/common-variable-immune-deficiency
The Immune Deficiency Foundation was founded here in Maryland 30 years ago by a mother, Marcia Boyle, who was fighting for her own son, John, who faced a similar, relatively unknown diagnosis. In the past 30 years, the IDF has been responsible for national and international doctor & patient education, community outreach and support, and groundbreaking research. Research is moving quickly, and discoveries are being made now that will improve medical treatment for PI in our life time! Special thanks to Kevin's fiance, Alissa, who works for IDF ~ you are a blessing to all of us!
Please help us rally around Kevin & others with PI by supporting the Immune Deficiency Foundation. You can do this by walking with us in Baltimore on October 27, making a contribution to our team, becoming a plasma donor (primaryimmune.org/plasma-partners-program), learning more about PI, and/or sharing this page with your family and friends.
Everything we do will advance Immune Deficiency Foundation's great cause! Together, we can make a difference!
