The walk for Primary Immunodeficiency is September 11, 2022! Last year was so much fun, even virtually! Please consider taking a look at my page, donating on my behalf, and joining my team! I would love to have you guys walk with me and help raise awareness about something very close to me.
As many of you know, I have Primary Immunodeficency (PI). Oftentimes I get asked "What is PI?" Well, PI is a rare, chronic condition caused by intrinsic or genetic defects in the immune system. The question that usually follows that is, "So what do you do for it?" I use a form of treatment called HYQVIA. HYQVIA is an immunoglobulin treatment. You can do this many different ways, but I'm going to tell you what my treatment is like. Every 28 days I have to receive a treatment. On treatment days, I have to insert two needles into my stomach. After that, I hook myself up to the IV pump and let it do its thing. During the infusion, my stomach gets pretty big. It gets so big to the point where you cannot see my abs and I cannot fit into my everyday clothes. The treatment time usually takes around three and a half hours. Afterwards, I tend to get nauseous and pretty bad headaches. Because of that, I have to take more medications. Overall, it is something that I have learned to live with. While it is not always the easiest, I know I am not alone. I have an amazing support group as well as wonderful doctors. The link below is for a walk coming up to support patients like myself with PI. If you would like to make a donation or join my team please refer to the link below. Also, feel free to share this post to spread awareness about this serious condition. Thank you so much for your support!
Please help me support Immune Deficiency Foundation by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance Immune Deficiency Foundation's great cause! Additionally, you can ask me how you can get involved too. Together, we can make a difference!
