My name is Patty, and I was diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID) May 2019. It all started with frequent sinus and respiratory infections and lots of fatigue. I saw several doctors these last few years and had lots of lab work and x-rays. I finally asked my primary physician if we could run some type of test to check and see if my immune system was low. He sent me to see an Immunologist that's when I was diagnosed with CVID. This is low levels of serum immunoglobulins and antibodies, which causes an increased susceptibility to infection. In June 2019 I started subcutaneous immunoglobulin treatments. I infuse every Sunday afternoon which takes about two hours from start to finish. About three months after starting my treatments I started feeling better. My immunologist and pharmacist are still slowly adjusting my doses because of some side effects that I'm experiencing.
There currently is no cure and without one myself and many others including children will be dependent on these infusions for the rest of our lives.
Please help me support the Immune Deficiency Foundation by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance Immune Deficiency Foundation's great cause! Additionally, please message me to see how you can get involved too!
Together, we can make a difference!
