Allisyn was diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID) in August 2019. Her health journey started when she was just 3-months-old. What started as common colds and viruses quickly became persistent and severe ear and respiratory infections leading to frequent visits to the emergency rooms, medications and numerous surgeries to help her recover yet she was never completely healing. Despite her bright attitude, she is constantly battling colds and her own exhaustion, requiring frequent naps even as she grows older. We started researching and advocating to Allisyn's doctors to determine a clear diagnosis for all her health issues.
Allisyn's Primary Immunodeficiency Disease (PI) is a group of more than 400 rare, chronic disorders in which part of the body's immune system is missing or functions improperly. Since Allisyn was diagnosed with CVID, she has been receiving weekly immunoglobulin plasma infusions to replace the antibodies her body is unable to produce on its own. And today, she is like any 8year old who enjoys swimming with her siblings, playing basketball and dancing with her friends!
Immediately after Allisyn's diagnosis, our family was introduced to the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF), which provides a network of support for families like ours living with PI. Allisyn is sharing her PI story to invite our family and friends in supporting IDF and her journey by joining Alli's Team Wonderland in our 2nd walk with the IDF Walk for PI 2020.
Her strong spirit continues to guide our family on this journey, and we thank you for your friendship, love and support along the way! We had hope to return to the beautiful Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point for our 2nd walk but look forward to your "virtual spirit" in joining us to make the TOP TEAM award again!
Every dollar we raise will advance Immune Deficiency Foundation's great cause! We ask for your support in sharing this page with your family and friends to raise awareness of donating plasma and the IDF's mission. Together, we can make a difference!
