Jessica was diagnosed with Primary Immunodeficiency - Common Variable Immune Deficiency in April of 2018. Since that diagnosis Jessica has had to endure weekly infusions of IVIG "liquid gold" to help maintain her health. This diagnosis was a long time coming.. early on in her life; Jessica had frequent ear infections, many episodes of bronchitis and cases of pneumonia. As a child she spent almost every season in the hospitals. She had ear tubes placed, adenoids and tonsils removed in hopes it would alleviate some of these illnesses however it didnt. All of her life , Jessica has been on constant antibiotics up until the day her body starting becoming allergic and her immune system no longer accepted that treatment.

Her situation became overly complicated by many allergies to common antibiotics that were used to treat these illnesses.

Finally when her mind and body stopped fighting on her own , multiple chronic illnesses started to develop which led us to a specialist who immediately new something was off. She quickly knew she was in need of relief. After extensive studies and tests her allergist/immunologist diagnosed Jessica with PI-CVID.

What does this mean? Jessica does not have a functioning immune system, her body is unable to fight off common infections or retain vaccinations to protect her from illnesses and diseases. In return she needs to receive a blood plasma product called IVIG to help give her immunity to common illnesses and disease she is not protected against. Jess requires weekly life saving infusions to sustain a semi-normal immune system.

Unfortunately but fortunately she is strong and identifies that these infusions "fix" her up and make her feel better. These infusions also eliminate an extensive medicine regimen of pills and inhalers.

We dont know what the future holds with this diagnosis as every person is different and have different ailments hence the zebra symbol but I know we have the support and love to get her through all of this!

Jessica is an amazingly smart, beautiful and lives for her family and to help others. She is now in need of our help. She is our zebra! Please consider walking with us or supporting her and many others in this journey!
